Enjoy Sicilian cuisine in a restored farmhouse

This agriturismo is owned by two Sicilian brothers and enjoys a peaceful location among meadows and cornfields. Everywhere you look, you'll see the characteristic Sicilian stone walls surrounding the fields. The old farm is no longer in business, but beautifully renovated in lodgings for guests. While I was waiting for the owner to arrive, I was offered a delicious cappuccino, in the comfortable sitting area with large windows overlooking the pool. The agriturismo is located in an archaeologically protected area and therefore during the renovation they had to keep intact the original structures of the farmhouse. So, everything you see is original and, while retaining all the details, beautifully restored. For example, the old gateway still surmounted by a small terrace from where you look out over the surrounding fields. In clear weather you can even see Mount Etna in the distance.

The beautiful baroque city of Modica is only a 15-minute drive away and is definitely worth visiting. The town is built against the rocks and while already lovely in the daytime, is breathtakingly beautiful in the evening! Also culinarily it has a good reputation, especially for Modica chocolate, a local specialty. After my visit to the agriturismo, I had a delicious lunch at Enoteca Sapori Doc with its characteristic courtyard and delicious Sicilian bread specialties. Also towns like Scicli, Ragusa Ibla and Noto are easily reachable from the agriturismo and the beach is only 20 minutes away by car.

Restaurant

The agriturismo has a large pool that goes from shallow to deep, surrounded by umbrellas and sunbeds. Under a large tree is a long table where you can have breakfast or dinner in fine weather. Every night the restaurant serves a menu of Sicilian specialties. From the restaurant you have wonderful views of the illuminated swimming pool through the huge windows.

The rooms

There are five standard rooms, some with a connecting door. The rooms are built in the former stables, all located next to each other on the ground floor, and have a kitchenette with two hotplates and a small private terrace with table and chairs. There are three Deluxe rooms, located in the courtyard, also with kitchenette and private terrace. Finally there is a superior room with double bed, bathroom and kitchenette on the ground floor and two single beds in an open loft. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning and wifi.
