Family-friendly agriturismo in Tuscany among the olive trees

This agriturismo has everything you need for a wonderful family holiday. A quiet location among olive groves, beautiful views, fenced pool, spacious apartments and near a restaurant with organic products from its own farm. What more could you want! The access road to the agriturismo, about 800 meters, is unpaved, quite steep and very narrow, but there is only destination traffic. And once arrived you get rewarded with a beautiful view and wonderfully peaceful environment without traffic!

Organic sheep farm in Tuscany

It was beautiful weather when I visited the agriturismo and by its location on a hill I had fantastic views of the northern part of Tuscany. The agriturismo is specializes in olive oil and organic sheep cheese and dairy products. These products are also sold in the small shop in the nearby restaurant. The sheep have plenty of space on the 19 hectares site, which mainly consists of olive groves. The agriturismo has its own olive mill (the harvest is from October to November) and an artisan cheese factory. On request and for a fee they organize a tour of the farm and guests can watch the cheese making from close by.

The agriturismo also has a small playground and there is wifi. There is also a shared stone BBQ with wood oven for guests to use, a shared washing machine and dryer.

Restaurant and delicatessen shop

The restaurant near the agriturismo is located on the top of a hill about 5 minutes by car from the apartments and villas. But you can also take a hiking trail over the agriturismo grounds (about a 20-minute walk up a steep hill). The path is not lit so bring a flashlight. The restaurant uses many of the agriturismo products, such as olive oil, olive pate, various types of sheep cheeses and meats, yoghurts and desserts. The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday for dinner and Saturday and Sunday also for lunch. It is advisable to book your table well in advance as the restaurant is very popular with the locals. 

The agriturismo is centrally located in Tuscany between Florence (1 hour), Pisa (1 hour) and Lucca (45 minutes). Some authentic villages are located at 5 km and the beach is about an hour away. For the children, a visit to the Pinocchio park is very nice (30 km).

The apartments

There are 5 apartments of approximately 80 m2, each on the ground floor with two bedrooms on the first floor. Each apartment has a private terrace for outdoor dining and a private garden with a high hedge for privacy. Air conditioning is only in one of the two bedrooms. The other bedroom has a fan. The 5 apartments share a large swimming pool of 12x6 meters with a pergola for shadow, sun beds and parasols.
