Child-friendly agriturismo centrally located in Tuscany

At every agriturismo I visit I'm looking for something unique: why should I add this one to my selection? This time I quickly found the answer to that question. The agriturismo is located in the beautiful heart of Tuscany, in an ideal position between Florence, Siena and Lucca. There are 14 spacious family-friendly apartments with typical Tuscan furnishings and plenty of space for children to play. And finally there is a good restaurant with a beautiful terrace and a cosy bar within walking distance. In short, all the ingredients for a wonderful relaxing holiday in Italy are present here!

For those who want to see some of the famous sites during their holiday, the agriturismo is an ideal base for discovering Tuscany.  San Gimignano with its medieval towers and of course the world champion in ice-cream making, is about fifteen minutes away. Volterra is a half-hour drive over one of the most panoramic roads in Tuscany. And spectacular cities such as Florence, Lucca and Siena are about an hour’s drive away. But there are also other places nearby worth visiting where you can still see the local country life. At the reception they are happy to give you information on what to see and do in the area.

Swimming pool and park

The agriturismo is located on a hill where in the evening a fresh breeze ensures some cool relief on warm summer nights. It is an old characteristic hamlet with a number of country houses near a stately villa where once the nobles from Florence enjoyed the country life. The villa is sometimes rented for weddings. On the property is a park with two small lakes and a forest with deer. There is a 3km path around the property, ideal for jogging or walking. The agriturismo has a spacious swimming pool with sun beds and a small children's pool. There is also a lovely large playground with some play equipment for children.

Restaurant, terrace and bar

The property is fortunate that the neighbours have a successful restaurant and a cosy bar that is open all day. In the bar, opposite the entrance gate to the agriturismo, you can have breakfast with a croissant and cappuccino, lunch with a tasty sandwich or an aperitivo with a cheese board on the attractive terrace. In the restaurant they serve Tuscan dishes and good local wines. In Italy, it often happens that they concentrate on the food and do not care too much about the decor, but not in this restaurant! The friendly owner has created a charming restaurant in a romantic style where you can have a wonderful dinner. For those who want to eat a pizza there is another restaurant located at 2 km from the agriturismo where they also serve wood oven pizza (personally tested!).

Apartments

The agriturismo has a total of 14 apartments of various sizes, with 2, 3 or even 4 bedrooms and often as many bathrooms. The interior is in a rustic Tuscan style. There are still many original elements, such as a fireplace, wood oven or animal troughs. The classic kitchens are equipped with fridge, oven and 4-burner stove and in some apartments there is also a dishwasher. The apartments are spread over 4 different houses and all have their own table and chairs outside, some with beautiful views over the hills. Some apartments on the ground floor have a private garden.
